Medically controlled oxygen flow requires orifices made of non-combustible materials which are burr free and accurate as well as extremely clean. Common machining methods such as drilling, EDM or laser do not produce the sharp edged, burr free, lapped surfaces needed for today’s medical gas delivery systems. Bird’s ruby orifices are wire lapped in a high production method ensuring accurate, burr free surfaces with 2 micro inch finishes, both on the I.D. and faces. Accurate holes also insure predictable delivery quantities and guarantee that each orifice will be repeatable even in high volume applications.
